
Our Project.
The 12 week community project aims to support the black community to become more physically active using psychological tools.
Over the 12 weeks you will receive weekly online 1-2-1 sessions which last 45 minutes. The aim of these sessions will be to support you in overcoming any barriers you have which are stopping you from being physically active. These can include:
Lack on time
Not enjoying physical activity
Lack of self confidence
Not knowing where to start
The barriers faced by the black community can sometimes be bigger than these issues too. This can look like you enjoy swimming but the impact on your hair isn’t worth it or not finding a cycling helmet to fit your locs.

Why Is This Needed?
There are several stats that showcase why the Rebuild Health project is needed, these include:
29.2% of the black community are inactive and 14.8% are fairly active - Sports England
The black community is more likely to be physically inactive - Gov UK
67.5% of black adults are overweight or Obese - Gov UK
The black community is three times more likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes - Diabetes UK
We understand that every community has its reasons why physical activity isn’t part of their day-to-day. We want to support the black community in making that change and support the wider sector in understanding their needs.
The Project Includes:
Weekly Sessions
Every week for 12 weeks you will have a 45 minute virtual session to support you in making physical activity apart of your every day.
Signposting
There is no one size fits all when it comes to activity and we know that! We work with you to find activities that you enjoy, are close to you, and suit your lifestyle.
Extra support
Sometimes it is more than just changing the behavior. You might need support with your food intake, a fitness plan or further health support. We have a network r other black or cultural competent professionals to support all areas of your physical activity journey.
Community
You will be a part of our online & offline community. We believe ‘it takes a community’ so we want to give you that. Alongside your 12 weeks you can join our community group which gives you access to events, talks and further ways to keep physically active.

Who’s It For?
Our project has a specific inclusion criteria to make sure we are supporting the right people.
⇛ Aged 18 and over
⇛ Struggling to consistently engage in physical activity
⇛ Currently inactive or doing less than the government recommended amount of physical activity (150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week)
⇛ Ready to make a change to your physical activity levels

Rebuild health doesn’t focus of weight loss, caloire intake or weight mangement. Our focus is on moving your way and supporting you to recognise barriers that have been stopping you to date.

Just because you’ve reached the 12 week mark doesn’t mean the support from us stops. You will be part of our community! This means access to monthly group events, challenges, check ins and more. We understand that 12 weeks is only the beginning of your journey.

The 12 week project is free and will come at no cost to you.
